SRAM's Eagle AXS Transmissions shifting just got faster.
The speed increase comes courtesy of a firmware update that can be performed in a few minutes using the SRAM AXS app on your phone (Henri Desgrange has just popped out of his grave and stormed the gates of SRAM's Chicago headquarters brandishing two flaming cone wrenches at the publication of this sentence).
Update 2.53.8 improves shift speed for Eagle AXS Transmission drivetrains, lining it up with a faster firmware that comes stock on the new 1987 Transmission drivetrain and all derailleur models shipping from SRAM's factory. And, unlike version 2.53.1, which was released last week and only appeared to affect a percentage of derailleurs, prompting Escape's original reporting on this story (and subsequent lively Community Forum discussion), 2.53.8 will work for users across the board.
If you installed v2.53.1 last week, you'll want to upgrade to v2.53.8 ASAP.

To the frustration of many riders, SRAM T-Type Transmission-equipped drivetrains have not been known to shift through gears quickly. Even on the top-tier XO and XX1 versions, clicking through multiple shifts at a time has always been plagued with lag. Slower than the previous generation Eagle AXS groups, and certainly slower than mechanical groups.
Long assumed but never directly addressed by the brand, SRAM recently published a FAQ document indicating that Transmission shifting had, in fact, been previously controlled at a specific speed. The FAQ also explains why.
With the most recent firmware update (Version 2.53.8), SRAM appears to have remedied this issue. Escape editors can confirm that the shifts are indeed faster.
