Five women’s WorldTour teams and eight individual riders have lodged a formal appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over their disqualification from the Tour de Romandie Féminin in August, escalating a dispute with cycling’s governing body.

Canyon-SRAM zondacrypto, EF Education-Oatly, Lidl-Trek, Team Picnic-PostNL, and Visma-Lease a Bike confirmed on Thursday that they are challenging the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI)’s decision to expel their squads on the eve of the three-day race. In total, 30 riders were forced to leave the event, including overall contenders Niamh Fisher-Black, Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney, and Isabella Holmgren.
