Juan Ayuso has signed with Lidl-Trek, departing UAE Team Emirates-XRG with three years remaining on his existing deal, to agree a contract with the American team through 2030.
Ayuso’s departure from UAE was confirmed mid-Vuelta a España following months of rumours that the relationship between the Spaniard and UAE was suffering. The team had caught its then-rider by surprise with the announcement, with “differences in vision” cited as the reason for the uncoupling.

The Spaniard describes UAE Team Emirates as ‘a dictatorship’ and that an earlier version of the team’s statement was ‘much worse’.
