Cian Uijtdebroeks has made a surprise move to Movistar from Visma-Lease a Bike, cutting his existing contract short by two years to sign a four-year deal with the Spanish team.
The 22-year-old Belgian previously forced his way out of Bora-Hansgrohe a year early at the end of 2023, signing with Visma-Lease a Bike until the end of 2027. His new deal with Movistar is scheduled to end at the end of the 2029 season.
In a press release posted to Movistar's website, Visma-Lease a Bike CEO Richard Plugge revealed that the differing visions between team and rider as to Uijtdebroeks' future held was the reason for the move.
