DT Swiss has issued a formal safety recall of several carbon wheelsets, expanding on a stop-use notice released earlier in July. The issue affects rims with specific profiles made at a third-party facility in Vietnam, and delivered after 1 August 2024.
The original stop-ride notice applied to ERC, CRC, and HEC wheels with 35 mm and 45 mm rim depths. That has now been extended to a recall, which also includes ARC road wheel models with 50 mm, 55 mm, and 65 mm deep rims produced at the same site in Vietnam.
DT Swiss confirmed that ARC wheels with 38, 62, 80, and 85 mm rim depths are not affected, nor are any rims made at the company’s in-house production facility in Poland.

The Swiss brand said the recall was made "out of an abundance of caution" after its internal testing revealed the delamination issue with the wheel models.
"Analysis of a small number of reported incidents involving bicycle wheels from the ERC product families has shown that spontaneous delamination (i.e. detachment of the outer carbon layers) can occur in the rim flange area of the model series mentioned (see illustration of rim cross-section).
"The rim bed is not affected by this delamination but is also damaged as a result of the structural weakening (see also the illustration). This form of delamination leads to considerable structural weakening and even total failure of the rim," DT Swiss said in a document detailing the recall.

The affected wheels can be identified by serial numbers beginning with 2,750,000 or higher. DT Swiss asks all users to check their wheels via its recall portal at dtswiss.com/recall, where they can confirm if the product is affected and start the replacement process. All affected wheels will be replaced free of charge.
Update: Swiss Side has now announced that a number of its wheels (which share rims with DT Swiss) have been impacted by this recall. Details below:
